Call for Scores and Presentation Proposals
Now announcing the call for submissions to the National Student Electronic Music Event (NSEME) to be held at the University of Illinois – Urbana-Champaign on February 15th -16th, 2020.
This year’s theme is community! Some of the questions we asked ourselves when choosing a theme were: “What is the state of the electronic music community? What is the state of institutional and non-institutional electronic music? Where do fringe artists fit in?” Guests are encouraged to submit presentation proposals following this theme but submissions outside of this topic will still be considered. (Musical works submitted do not have to follow this theme.)
This is a conference organized and hosted by students, for students. Undergraduate and graduate composers and performers are eligible to apply. Performers are encouraged to submit performance proposals for music written by a current student composer. There is no application fee nor registration fee if accepted. Works up to 15 minutes will be considered. Attendance is required for all selected participants. Only one work may be submitted.
Each concert will include an 8.1 speaker system. Sound installations/soundscapes will be held in our 8.1 listening room as part of an afternoon meet-and-greet social event. Paper presentations and discussions will have stereo audio and video capabilities.
The deadline for Presentation proposals has been extended to Thursday, October 10th.
